Mike Ward isn’t just a comedian—he’s the man who took on Quebec’s Human Rights Commission in a decade-long free-speech battle… and won. His landmark 2021 victory at the Supreme Court of Canada, defending the right of artists to challenge societal norms through satire, transformed him from a Quebec star into a global cult hero and an unlikely free-speech icon.
An award-winning, Guinness World Record-breaking force in comedy, Ward has dominated stages worldwide despite rarely performing in English. He’s performed in comedy specials airing on networks in 20 countries; including Showtime (USA), HBO (Canada), Channel 10 (Australia) and Comedy Central (South Africa).
Yet his reach stretches far beyond TV to the podcast world, with guest appearances on powerhouse American shows like The Joe Rogan Experience, WTF with Marc Maron, and Jim and Sam on Sirius XM.
In Quebec, however, he’s royalty. His French-language podcast Mike Ward Sous Écoute — a 150 million-download behemoth — is the planet’s #1 French comedy podcast, blurring the line between show and cultural movement. In 2022, he rewrote the rules of live entertainment by selling out Montreal’s 22,000-seat Bell Centre for a podcast recording, smashing the Guinness World Record for ticket sales in the category— a title that still stands to this day.
