Montreal, November 7th, 2016 ● After being named Comedian of the year at the FrenchCanadian Olivier awards earlier this year, Mike Ward had a very busy summer working in English (including a spot on JFL All Access for Canada’s Comedy Network and Comedy Central Africa as well as a live Nasty Show taping for SHOWTIME in the U.S.A.). Mike Ward spent the month of August in Scotland doing a series of shows at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival Fringe (the world’s biggest arts festival) and then went on to steal the show in the recent British film The Comedian’s Guide To Survival! Last night, the Quebec comedian was named Comedic Artist of the Year at the 17th annual Canadian Comedy Awards.
This honour is given to Canada’s comedic artist of the year, whether they work in stand-up, acting or writing. The Montreal-based Ward was one of five finalists, with Graham Clark, Jus Reign, K. Trevor Wilson and Kenny Hotz. He is the first Quebecer to receive this prize which has previously been awarded to Mike Myers, Seth Rogen and Russell Peters.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Mike Ward still has a lot of events to cap off a busy 2016! He will be appearing at the Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland from the 1st to the 5th of December before heading off to China where he will be doing shows in Shanghai, Wuhan, Taipei, Xiamen and Beijing. Get ready!
